We are an NHS general medical practice that has been serving the people of Kettering and the surrounding villages for more than 100 years. The Doctors are Dr. Beckett, Dr. Baskaran, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Antari.
Each of the GPs has a personal list and patients will wherever possible see their own usual GP for pre-booked appointments unless he or she is unavailable. Patients needing to be seen sooner will be booked with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner who is able to prescribe medication, organise any necessary test or investigations, refer on for a further secondary care opinion or if clinically necessary arrange for you to be seen by a GP same day.
The surgery is open Monday to Fridays from 8am to 6.30pm. We do not close over lunchtime. We offer extended hours on Saturday mornings (except for holiday periods) from 8am to 12.00noon for pre-booked appointments only, this is offered via our Extended Access Provider based at Prospect House.
Our treatment room, staffed by experienced practice nurses and health care assistant offers a mixture of pre-bookable clinics which are available Monday to Friday.
The surgery closes for one Wednesday afternoon each month for staff training & protected learning.

Our Receptionists and Administration Team provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses, as well as repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries. Our experienced Administration Team can help you with many of your non health related enquiries.
Since the introduction of the Data Protection Act, patients have the right to apply for access to their health records, provided that a written application is made and the appropriate fee has been paid. However, the practice also has a duty to maintain the confidentiality of patient information.
The patient’s G.P. will decide if it is in the patient’s interest before releasing any information.
If you wish to have access to your records you must apply in writing to the Practice Manager.
If you request copies of records there will be a fee. Please ask for further details at the reception desk.
We aim to provide a high standard of patient care at all times. However we appreciate that sometimes things can go wrong or misunderstandings happen. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service please contact the Practice Manager in writing. All complaints will be acknowledged and dealt with in an appropriate manner and in line with our practice policy. If you are not satisfied with the response from the Practice, you may also write direct to the independent Parliamentary Ombudsman for Health related matters, and full contact details will be provided with the original response from the practice. Alternatively, if you wish to complain directly to the commissioner of our services, instead of to the Practice, this should be addressed to:
NHS England (Central Midlands Sub Region)
Fosse House
6 Smith Way
Grove Park
Enderby
Leicester
LE19 1SX
Telephone : 0113 824 9555
They will then instigate an appropriate investigation and provide the relevant response, again with the option to escalate your issue to the Independent Parliamentary Ombudsman.
The Practice Manager will investigate each complaint, as appropriate, and respond as promptly as possible. The practice adheres to the NHS Complaints regulations and carries out an annual review of all patient complaints and suggestions. Clinical issues will be discussed with the Current Partnership Chairperson, the patients own Usual GP and clinician involved.
The practice complies with data protection and access to medical records legislation.
Identifiable information about you will be shared with others in the following circumstances:
To provide further medical treatment for you e.g. from district nurses and hospital services.
To help you get other services e.g. from the social work department. This requires your consent.
When we have a duty to others e.g. in child protection cases anonymised patient information will also be used at local and national level to help the Health Board and Government plan services e.g. for diabetic care.
If you do not wish anonymous information about you to be used in such a way, please let us know.
Reception and administration staff require access to your medical records in order to do their jobs. These members of staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the medical staff.
Information about the General Practioners and the practice required for disclosure under this act can be made available to the public. All requests for such information should be made in writing to the practice manager.
The NHS operate a zero tolerance policy with regard to violence and abuse and the practice has the right to remove violent patients from the list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff, patients and other persons. Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person’s safety. In this situation we will notify the patient in writing of their removal from the list and record in the patient’s medical records the fact of the removal and the circumstances leading to it.
Patients or clinicians may ask for a chaperone for any procedure or examination for which they consider it appropriate.
Please ask for a chaperone at the time of booking your appointment wherever possible.
At the Dryland Surgery we have a policy not to discriminate on the grounds of race, gender, social class, age, religion, sexual orientation, appearance, disability, medical condition or any other factor.
Decisions about treatment will be based solely on clinical judgment and the best available evidence at the time.
